THE FOOL

✯ THE FOOL IN DEFINITION ✯

NOUN: A person who acts unwisely or imprudently;
a person lacking in judgement or prudence.

A simpleton, a jester, a vessel of absurdity. The fool is mocked, yet often free in ways the wise are not. He stumbles, he laughs, he risks. Whether foolhardy or fearless, he is a creature of chaos, dancing on the knife-edge of wisdom.

✯ THE FOOL IN TAROT ✯

Numbered zero, the Fool is both beginning and end, the infinite wanderer. Carefree, he steps off the cliff with a heart full of wonder, trusting the universe to catch him. He inspires courage, for he understands that every day is a chance to open up new areas in your life, and with that comes a mixture of anticipation, wonder, awe and curiosity. His ignorance may be revelation or ruin. He is both divine madness and sacred potential.

✯ THE FOOL IN SCRIPTURE ✯

“As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.” (Prov. 26:11)
The word "fool" appears in the Bible around 360 times, in both the Old and New Testaments. A figure of folly, the fool in the Bible is not merely naive but defiant - one who "says in his heart, 'There is no God'" (Psalm 14:1). Proverbs paints him as reckless, unteachable, laughing in the face of wisdom. His downfall is certain, yet his story is a warning, not a prophecy.
