WE SANG AND WE DANCED AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL
MEDIUM: OIL PAINT ON WOOD, 35x27cm
“This filmic painting from the movie ‘Swiss Army Man’ depicts an embrace with a symbolic representation of oneself through a secondary character. This surrealistic exploration of identity makes us think about what we would do at the end of the world. Who would you grab and kiss whilst everything around you is on fire? Whilst you are drowning in water? A quote coming directly from the final scene in the film, ‘we sang and we danced and it was beautiful’ surmises a parting reflection of love and loss.”

“My work spans across multiple disciplines such as painting, photography, drawing and textiles. My subject matter often features oil painted faces and bodies using surrealistic colour palettes. I explore themes of identity, body image, film and narrative through layered figuration, portraiture and fine details. My current practice looks deeply into ancient mythologies and applies them to contemporary societal contexts.”
