ETERNAL ECHOES

MEDIUM: DIGITAL ART

“For this piece “Eternal Echoes,” I experimented in Procreate on my iPad.  When I saw the theme was ouroboros I knew I had to submit a piece of art, but the problem was that I could not paint due to being hospitalized for a severe Crohn’s disease flare up.  Instead, I tested out digital painting, but I am far from mastering this medium.  Most of my art follows the same motifs and this piece “Eternal Echoes is no different. I see the world as violent and absurd, so I represent that through my art.  My evil origin story comes from having terrible, life long health issues and growing up poor in the wealthiest country in the world.  I have had a few extremely close calls to death in my childhood due to my illness and those events make me think about death often, which manifests in my art.  When my art is not intrapersonal, it is political and dystopian.  Despite all of this, I am genuinely hopeful for humanity and most of my art shows this hope through the extreme violence.  I like to keep my work vague enough so that the viewer can interpret the piece to tailor to their own life.”
