CHANGELING

MEDIUM: MULTIMEDIA

‘How can I portray my childhood through the fairytales and folklore which shaped it, to explore the generational trauma of assimilation, and my fear of being the Celtic Changeling?

Using embroidery, paper mache, painting, and other methods, I created various elements which together function to tell the story of a faerie child.

A reflection of my childhood self, the character of Ailsing lives in an abandoned house by the sea, separated from human life. The items in her bedroom are found and made, many covered in the remnants of the nature they’d been forgotten in.

As Aisling is a changeling, a faerie child left in place of a real human, all of her belongings are uncanny, attempting to mimic what she believes a human child’s bedroom would look like.’
